Introduction

Welcome to Blonay Online Learning. Blonay are currently designing and developing online applications to aid Primary School education. By clicking the start button at the bottom of this page you can see our first application which teaches children about some aspects of World War 2. We are in the process of devloping more online learning tools and hope to have a range of applications available soon.

If you are a primary school teacher we would love to hear your feedback good or bad, to help us develop better applications that will be more usefull for you in the classroom. This World War 2 application is aimed at year 4 students (8 to 9 year olds) so if you teach this age group please feel free to let them have a go, again we would be very gratefull to hear any feedback. You can email us at jamie@blonay.com.

Description - World War 2 – The Blitz & Evacuations

An online Flash based application offering a fully integrated lesson taken from the Key Stage 2 History, QCA scheme of work Unit 9. The lesson introduces children to a range of issues surrounding the Blitz and evacuations.

The application was designed with input from teachers and takes children on an interactive adventure introducing them to ideas using interactive images and games, animation, sound and text. Progress is automatically saved so the application can run across a number of lessons if necessary.

A quiz is included to check how much students have understood and remembered. There is a task where students create a newspaper article which once complete can be printed off. This helps improve keyboard skills and produces a tangible piece of work.

Before You Start

To run this application you will need to have the Macromedia Flash plugin installed on the computer you are using. If you already have Flash installed on your computer you will be able to see the animation with the words "Flash is already installed on your computer" and a cricle moving across the screen. If you can see the animation you are ready to go! If you cannot see the animation then Flash is not installed at the moment but you can download it for free by following the instructions at the Macromedia website.

When you click the start button below you will be taken to a Login screen where you will be asked to enter some details. Please keep a note of your login details so if you come back at a later date you can log back in, the application will remember who you are and take you to the last part of the application you looked at.
